Hackney 2012 hotspots revealed by TfL
Hackney Wick station will be "significantly busier" at Games time due to the Live Site at Victoria Park, while the London Overground line from Stratford to Richmond and Clapham Junction will have "additional delays", especially during the weekday rush hour. It may take over 30 minutes to access Central and Jubilee line services, and, as the main station for the Olympic Park, Stratford station will be very busy.
This is the most recent information to emerge from TfL relating to travel within and through Hackney during the Olympic and Paralympic Games (27 July-9 September). TfL also announced that the tube, DLR and London Overground will operate for an extra hour each day, with last trains leaving key venues around 1.30am. There will be extra train services in late evening and an extra 200 buses across London.
The roads around the Olympic Park are described as "high impact areas". The Olympic Route Network (ORN), which comes into effect a few days before the Opening Ceremony, runs through the north eastern edge of the borough with some Games lanes as well as changes to traffic signals, pedestrian crossings and banned turns.
TfL is planning a major advertising and poster campaign early next year together with email updates and a travel tips website. For further details about the Olympic Route Network see tfl.gov.uk/ORN, and for information about public transport see tfl.gov.uk/2012.
