Mayor of Hackney, Jules Pipe, said: "Hundreds of Hackney people already have jobs that will be vital to the success of London 2012 but there are many more opportunities available.  I want to be sure that local people have the best chance of playing their part, of benefiting financially and of experiencing what will be most spectacular event in the Borough's history.

"We can all be proud of Hackney's Olympic effort but there is still time for more people to get jobs and to play their own personal role.  Application deadlines are getting nearer so I would urge anyone who is looking for work or who wants to be directly involved in the Olympic Games to move quickly."

Employment advisers will be on hand every Tuesday, Thursday and Friday at the Springboard Centre, Lower Clapton Road to provide support with the electronic application process. To access your own session, contact the Hackney Games time jobs line on 020 8356 5700.

A job on the Olympic Park could be a chance to switch direction and build new skills.  Former ambulance driver and Hackney resident, Stephen Yoxall, 57, has been working as a security officer on the Olympic Park for nearly two years:. "I was very grateful for the opportunity to get back to work after two years unemployed," he says. "I've seen the Park change from a building site to nearly complete. My ambition after the Games is to go into corporate security."

Hackney's own jobs brokerage, On Site, and Job Centre Plus can also help with London 2012 jobs opportunities.  On Site can be contacted at 020 7275 7843.
