Hackney Students win jobs on the Olympic Park

Young people in Hackney schools are being offered jobs in and around the Olympic Park next summer as part of a large recruitment campaign taking place in the host boroughs.

The job offers came following a series of recruitment events in the borough organised by Hackney Council and partners. A recent event at Stoke Newington School was attended by 400 pupils, and further events have taken place at Bridge, Mossbourne and Petchey Academies. Visits to Hackney's remaining secondary schools are taking place before Christmas and recruitment continues until March 2012.

"The opportunities are not just for students - everyone is welcome to apply - but recruitment closes in March 2012, so residents will need to be quick to make the most of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity," said Councillor Guy Nicholson, Hackney Council Cabinet Member for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Thousands of jobs will be available in and around the Olympic Park next summer in areas such as cleaning, catering, retail, hospitality and security. In total, about 400 Hackney residents have been offered jobs in and around the Olympic Park since the summer.
