
Be safe and be seen in winter
As the nights draw in, we would like you to remind children to be safe and be seen - so please encourage them to be extra careful around this time of year. This page offers some helpful tips, lesson plans and links to support teachers in spreading this message.
Child pedestrian road accidents are most likely to occur between the hours of 3.30pm - 4pm in winter week days.
Be bright morning or night
- Make sure you can be easily seen, especially at night, on dark days and in bad weather
- By night, reflective material shows up in car headlights - fluorescent clothing doesn't work after dark Reflective tape can be added to clothing, school bags and equipment
- Bright or fluorescent clothes show up best by day, especially in dull or misty weather
