Boosting the Visitor Economy
What impact do visitors to Hackney have on your business?
With the Olympic and Paralympic Games less than four years away, did you know:
- Over 1 million people spent at least 3 hours visiting Hackney and over 170,000 people stayed at least one night in 2006.
- These visitors spent in the region of £118 million.
- Hackney has a vast range of attractions including public green space, galleries, theatre & the arts, food markets, cafes & restaurants, iconic buildings, bars, clubs, festivals and museums - attracting over 1 million visitors per year.
- 30% of the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games are being held in Hackney, meaning many new visitors to Hackney in less than 3 and ½ years.
- Over 20,000 international journalists and media workers will be based in the International Broadcast Media Centre at Hackney Wick.
Given these facts, in partnership with local business, we wish to maximise opportunities for local businesses and visitors alike.
We would like your assistance in designing a local initiative that builds on your existing work to get more visitors through your door.
We would be grateful if you could help us shape this work and inform us of key areas and actions for attention; you can do this by filling out this survey.
