Providing Better Value for Money
The customer services centre is important in the wider regeneration of Hackney where we’re already investing in more modern homes, schools and public buildings.
We can now invest in our Council buildings. Some of our old buildings are expensive to run with inadequate facilities, difficult working conditions and poor environmental credentials. Updating and making them accessible would cost far more than building the new centre. We’ll make further savings by replacing expensive leased buildings and reducing running costs.
The investment in the new building will soon reap rewards in the savings we’ll make from consolidating our buildings and resources. It makes financial sense in enabling the Council to operate more efficiently and effectively. Overall, the Council’s strong financial position means we can make this re-investment in services from our capital programme. It won’t add a penny to council tax. And in the longer run better services will give our council tax payers better value for money.
