What objectives should organisations that are applying for funding meet?
Organisations receiving funding under this programme have demonstrated how their projects and programmes deliver one or more of the seven objectives in Hackney's Sustainable Community Strategy. These are -
- Reduce poverty by supporting residents into sustainable employment, and promoting employment opportunities.
- Help residents to become better qualified and raise educational aspirations. Ensure the educational improvement of Hackney's children and young people is excellent.
- Promote health and wellbeing for all and support independent living.
- Make the borough safer, and help people feel safe in Hackney.
- Promote mixed communities in well-designed neighbourhoods, where people can access high quality, affordable housing.
- Be a sustainable community, where all citizens take pride in and take care of Hackney and its environment, for future generations.
- Provision of Holiday Play Schemes.
Assessment and support
Assessment
Grants applications are assessed against the eligibility criteria and objectives, and recommendations are made by a grants panel to Cabinet, which makes the final decision on award of grants.
A full list of the 80 organisations receiving grants from 2011-12 appears in the downloads section (see above right).
Support
Hackney CVS (HCVS) offers free workshops for organisations that might need support with their application. You can view dates and download a booking form on their website. For further information email info@hcvs.org.uk or tel 020 7923 1962.
Payments
Grants are usually offered for one year beginning on 1 April and ending on 31 March with payments normally by quarterly instalment in advance.
Performance and monitoring
Each project that receives a grant is set agreed targets for each quarter and these targets are monitored quarterly (this includes monitoring visits). This also involves evaluation to ensure that the various funded projects deliver to agreed standards.
The Hackney Grants Programme is managed by the Council's Strategic Investment and Partnerships Team.
