Hackney Funding Programme 2010/11

A total of about £2.67 million is being invested in Hackney’s voluntary and community sector (VCS) during the financial year 2010-11 as part of the Council’s Hackney Grants Programme. A full list of the 90 organisations receiving grants this year appears in the downloads section (right).
All applicants must demonstrate how their projects and programmes deliver one or more of six objectives linked to the Hackney Sustainable Community Strategy:
- Reduce poverty by supporting residents into sustainable employment, and promoting employment opportunities.
- Help residents to become better qualified and raise educational aspirations. Ensure the educational improvement of Hackney’s children and young people is excellent.
- Promote health and wellbeing for all and support independent living.
- Make the borough safer, and help people feel safe in Hackney.
- Promote mixed communities in well-designed neighbourhoods, where people can access high quality, affordable housing.
- Be a sustainable community, where all citizens take pride in and take care of Hackney and its environment, for future generations.
Applications for this year’s grants has now closed but the rigorous grants process will open again in summer 2010 for the 2011/12 grants round. If you would like to be kept informed of next year’s programme, please contact:

Grants Launch:
The grants are launched in the summer of each year for the following financial year. The programme is then open to VCS organisations in Hackney to apply for a grant to deliver their projects by the deadline, usually in September.
Assessment:
Grants applications are assessed against the eligibility criteria and objectives, and recommendations are made by a grants panel to Cabinet, which makes the final decision on award of grants.
Payments:
Grants are currently offered for one year beginning on 1st April and ending on 31st March with payments normally by quarterly instalment in advance.
Performance & Monitoring:
Each project is set agreed targets for each quarter and these targets are monitored quarterly, including monitoring visits. This also involves monitoring and evaluation to ensure that the various funded projects deliver to agreed standards.
The Hackney Grants Programme is managed by the grants team within Community Partnerships.
