Clapton Pond
Clapton Pond has existed since the 1600s. The pond was re-landscaped for public use in the late 1800s to the pattern that largely survives today. In 2004 funds were successfully raised by the Clapton Pond User Group to implement modern improvements to this historic space. As a result of the restoration project, Clapton Pond has become a vibrant and well used community park.
Clapton Pond was awarded a Green Flag award in 2011. The Green Flag Award Scheme recognises and rewards the best green spaces in the country. Hackney currently has thirteen Green Flags - one of the highest totals in London.

CPNAG also worked alongside the Clapton Square user group to host the Clapton Festival, which celebrated the community of Clapton. See YouTube Clapton Festival to watch a short film of the festival.
Historical Clapton Pond
The history of the park has been unearthed by Hackney Council's Archives Department and was featured in the 17 October 2011 edition of Hackney Today. The article gives the brief history of the pond from its construction in the 1600s when James I was on the throne up to its present day, complete with play area, duck houses and Green Flag.

Clapton Pond User Group
The Clapton Pond Neighbourhood Action Group (CPNAG) was formed in 2002 to help improve Clapton Pond and the surrounding area. CPNAG hold regular meetings to discuss ways to improve the area.
CPNAG have now launched their new website and Facebook pages. The pages will provide updates on pertinent issues in Clapton including planning applications and upcoming events like the Clapton Conference, and of course information on Clapton Pond and the resident ducks.
