Hackney Council's Commercial Waste Services can provide your business with:
- a variety of commercial waste contracts
- various types of container (Eurobins, sacks, tapes, skips etc)
- a collection frequency to suit your requirements (subject to time banded streets).

Reuse collections
Your business can give old furniture a new lease of life, thanks to the Furniture Reuse Project (which is funded by the council and run by Homestore). This offers low-income households a chance to furnish their homes without getting into debt. Please note that only furniture which can be used in a home - sofas, armchairs, tables, etc. - can be re-used.

Special collections
For a fee, we can organise 'special collections' for waste that does not come under existing arrangements made with businesses. For example, we can collect additional, non-contracted waste or organise a 'one-off' collection. Just contact us using the details at the top-right corner of the page for more information.
Please note however that we are unable to offer collections for oils, WEEE items, animal by-products. For details of businesses who may be able to help you dispose of these kind of products, please see our list of businesses that can assist with commercial waste disposal (Word document, 23KB).
Commercial glass recycling
We operate a mixed-glass recycling service for businesses across the borough. This offers you:
- a competitively priced service, tailored to meet your needs
- scheduled collections
- suitable containers for mixed glass, from sacks to various sized bins
- advice on ways to reduce, reuse and recycle your waste.
By recycling your glass, you will be:
- enchancing your business image and reputation by showing you are socially responsible
- complying with health, safety and evironmental legislation
- preventing a valuable resource from entering the waste stream
- helping make Hackney cleaner and greener
The Commercial Waste Team will collect glass bottles and jars of all colours. Businesses are asked to simply remove corks, metal or plastic lids; there is no need to remove labels or separate colours.
