Community Partnerships
Our vision is to ensure that investment in Hackney's Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) is focussed on delivering the Sustainable Community Strategy and that the potential of the sector is understood and realised.
We support the development of an independent, vibrant third sector that achieves its potential to deliver for local people by:
- Creating an understanding of the value of the VCS as a powerful partner that can work with statutory partners to support the development and delivery of the Sustainable Community Strategy.
- Ensuring investment in developing a fit for purpose third sector
- Ensuring the VCS is focussed on serving the needs of the people of Hackney as outlined in the Sustainable Community Strategy and in building the sectors capacity.
- Improving VCS accommodation by operating a fair and open lettings policy.
- Using investment through grants and other forms of funding and support to ensure that the objectives of the Sustainable Community Strategy are met.
- Advising the Council on how best to deploy resources to achieve impact where it is most needed.
- Supporting umbrella organisations such as Volunteer Centre Hackney (VCH) and Hackney Council for Voluntary Service (HCVS) to promote volunteering and best practice in the sector.
- Ensuring that well-understood policies and procedures underpin the working relationships between the VCS, public agencies and wider third sector bodies.
- Recognising the independence of the sector and celebrating the diversity that it brings to service provision and improving outcomes for the people of Hackney.
To this end, we lead on developing and implementing various strategies and frameworks to deliver the strategic outcomes above namely:
- Voluntary Sector Accommodation Strategy
- Hackney Advice Strategy
- Hackney Compact
- Hackney Volunteering Strategy
- Hackney Council Grants Programme
- Third Sector Commissioning Strategy
