Hackney Downs

Hackney Downs was opened as a public park in 1884 and is a major inner city open space. Major works to the park are due to commence in January 2010, upon completion facilities in the park will include five tennis courts, a new multi use games area, a new play area and various sports pitches. Hackney downs was awarded a Green Flag award in 2009. The Green Flag Award Scheme recognises and rewards the best green spaces in the country. Hackney currently has nine Green Flags - one of the highest totals in London.
