Shoreditch Park
The area now covered by Shoreditch Park was terraced housing until the area suffered catastrophic bomb damage during World War II. Temporary ‘pre-fab’ housing was erected on the site but was cleared betweem 1964 and 1973, creating the park.
Shoreditch Park was awarded a Green Flag award in 2009. The Green Flag Award Scheme recognises and rewards the best green spaces in the country. Hackney currently has nine Green Flags - one of the highest totals in London.
The park has recently undergone a facelift, and boasts smart new lighting, seating, pathways and sporting facilities. See the Shoreditch Park Improvements page to find out more.
