Dalston public spaces
Dalston Square is currently under construction and is due to be complete in Autumn 2012. Plans are being made for a programme of free cultural activities and events in the square from October 2012, ensuring that it becomes an open space for all to enjoy.
One event has already taken place in Dalston Square - the burial of a time capsule containing items that provide a snapshot of Dalston's public realm, culture and people in 2011 for future generations to discover.
Over the last two years, local people have been involved in exploring the role of public spaces in Dalston. The council has supported a number of art projects that have temporarily transformed existing open spaces into different creative environments, allowing new uses for those spaces to be proposed, and new audiences to be developed for culture.
