Cycle Pit Stops

More than 150 cyclists made a pit stop in Northchurch Terrace, N1, earlier this month for a free 5-minute bike check up as part of Hackney Council’s Cycle with Confidence campaign.

The Cycle Pit Stop was one of a series of events designed for cyclists of all levels, to boost confidence and get more people cycling in the borough.

Five qualified mechanics checked around 100 bikes and provided advice over three hours. Cyclists also got a free banana, cycling information and maps, and were able to purchase subsidised bike accessories, including locks, lights and repair kits. Those requiring major work on their bikes were given a 10% discount on service and parts at participating local cycle shops.

At a second pit stop event in Bouverie Road, N16, on Thursday 23 July, more than 100 cyclists turned up and over 60 bikes were checked over.
