People's Choice Award
For the second time we have put the shortlist to the test of the community through the People's Choice Award. We received over 1,100 votes, around 25 percent more than in 2010.
This involvement from the community is a clear indication that the real winners of the Hackney Design Awards are the community who live, work or recreate in these amazing buildings and spaces.
This was a closely run race, but two schemes jumped ahead then fought a battle - constantly changing between winning and second in the last few days of voting. In the end Urswick School was the victor with the 2012 Handball Arena just a few votes behind. In recognition of this tightly run race we are awarding a winner and a runner-up.
