Hackney Design Awards 2012
The Design Awards are a celebration of great design in Hackney and nominations for the 2012 awards open on 21 May.
Since the inception of the Design Awards in 2004 over 155 nomination have been received, 58 shortlisted and 37 recognised as winners, commendations or mentions. Previous award recipients can be viewed at the links shown to the left.
Everyone can nominate
Everyone is encouraged to nominate any project they feel represents good quality design and sustainable development in Hackney.
How to enter
- Complete the Design Awards e-form. Please note up to 10 images can be sent with the e-form and each of these must be less than 1mb per image.
- Complete a Nomination Form (PDF, 116KB) and post to Freepost RSLJ-ARTC-GXRAZ, Hackney Design Awards 2012, Planning and Regulatory Services, 3rd Floor, 2 Hillman Street, London, E8 1FB. No stamp required.

The closing date for nominations is 30 July 2012.
What can be nominated?
The nomination must:
- be in the borough of Hackney;
- have been completed no earlier than 1 August 2010 and be fully functioning by the closing date of nominations being 30 July 2012.
Entries for the following types of public or private development are encouraged:
- new buildings - residential, commercial, community, educational, infrastructure or industrial;
- alterations to existing buildings - including extensions, refurbishment, conversions or restoration; and
- parks, gardens, pedestrian or play / recreational areas that include structure design elements.

Nomination documentation for architects
To ensure we have all the necessary information for your nomination please provide:
- Synopsis - A 300 word synopsis about the scheme. This should be agreed for publishing purposes.
- Contacts - A contact name, email address and phone number for the client, contractor and other relevant party involved in the project.
- Images - A minimum of 10 print quality colour images. If being sent electronically they should be a maximum of 1MB. Alternatively, post a CD to the above Freepost address. In this instance, each image must be less than 2MB in size.
- Photographer credits - if the images were taken by a professional photographer please provide their name and contact number so that images are correctly credited.
In addition to the above, feel free to provide any information you feel is relevant in support of your nomination.
