TWU may impose additional requirements

TWU's observations, if any, will be taken into account in determining the application. A rejection or conditional approval may be issued under Section 18 of the Building Act 1984, prior to 1st April 2002 and under the Building Regulations after 1st April 2002. A copy of any such conditional approval should be sent to TWU.

If TWU fail to respond within 15 days, we may issue a conditional approval, requiring the applicant or his agent to contact TWU, who may impose additional requirements.

TWU are to be informed by fax if work commences prior to approval.

Building Notice applications will not be accepted for a building within 3 metres of a public sewer, even if prior agreement has been reached with TWU.

The power of enforcement of matters relating to public sewers rests with TWU and not the Local Authority. Therefore the enforcement of additional requirements, i.e. above those necessary to satisfy the Building Regulations are the responsibility of TWU.

Although Building Control are obliged to take due regard for TWU's opinions, the requirements of the Building Regulations, for example for clearing access, must still be satisfied.
