Controlled Parking Zone Consultations

The Consultation Process

Our consultations are done by Stage 1 and Stage 2 consultation process.  This informs the decision whether or not to implement a CPZ.

Stage 1 is a survey where you can express your views about the need for proposed parking controls in your area.  Responses to this questionnaire will be used to make a decision about the need for controls in your area.  A leaflet is delivered to resident and business within the chosen area; these stakeholders have 8 weeks to send a response back. During that time Parking conduct a 20% sample of door to door interviews and within this area Parking will be conducting car surveys, to assess vehicle activity. The results of these activities must be analysed rigidly to ensure the Council is basing its decisions on valid data.

If a CPZ is approved in your area, the Council will proceed to Stage 2 and you will be consulted again on the design and implementation of the CPZ.

Parking Services are required to be very specific about the areas incorporated within the CPZ or, as the case may be, not included. This involves careful detailed designing through the Operations Team. The design is then issued to all residents and business for information, and a Traffic Management Order raised

CPZs are also subject to parking reviews after one year and every third year.
