Upcoming road lining works

We are currently working with the London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games (LOCOG) on introducing permanent waiting restrictions (double yellow lines) in the area of the borough which is likely to be most affected by the increase in traffic during the Games. The purpose of this work, which is funded by LOCOG, is to prevent parking at key sections of street where the Highway Code prohibits parking and where there is the greatest demand for traffic movement. In the majority of cases the lines will be limited to 5m (16 feet).

Waiting restrictions at junctions will help to promote movement of traffic in general, enhance accessibility for emergency services and freight, and access for local businesses. It also benefits pedestrians by enabling them to cross the street and to be seen by motorist. This work is going to commence on the 6 February 2012 and will continue for approximately one month. The wards affected include Leabridge, Kings Park, Chatham, Wick and Victoria.
