Controlled Parking Zone B (South Shoreditch)

The next operational review will take place in 2008/2009

The London Borough of Hackney last reviewed Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ) B in 2005 - the public consultation ran between 24th October and 16th December 2005.

Major Design Changes

Zone B (South Shoreditch)

The results showed differing responses from residents and business, both for the preferred operational hours and days of operation. This may be due to the influence of the 'night time economy' on residents in the northern section (north of Great Eastern Street) compared to the south of the zone (South of Great Eastern Street).

Zone B has been split into two separate sub-zones to balance the needs of residents and businesses. The area north of Great Eastern Street and west of Shoreditch High Street will become Zone B (North), while the remaining area south of Great Eastern Street will become Zone B (South).

Following feedback from residents and businesses about the new sub-zone boundary, Parking Services undertook a second consultation to finalise its position. This gave affected streets immediately south of Great Eastern Street the opportunity to become part of B (North) or remain in their current B (South) - thank you to all who responded. Based on responses to this second consultation and night-time parking stress surveys, an extension to B (North) has been agreed that will incorporate the northern half of Paul Street (down to the Leonard Street junction). Please note that the validity of Zone B permits will remain the same, entitling the holder to park in both north and south sub-zones. Only visitor vouchers will be restricted to individual sub-zone areas.

The operational hours of control will be revised as follows:

• Zone B (North) will become Monday - Saturday 8:30am - 12:00am midnight.
• Zone B (South) will become Monday - Friday 8:30am - 6:30pm and Saturday 8:30am - 1:30pm.

Lockable motorcycle bays will be installed in different areas of the CPZ, including Hoxton Square.

Subject to weather conditions, the work to implement these changes is planned to take place according to the timetable below:
