Regent's Canal Conservation Area

Regent's Canal Conservation Area was designated in 2006.

It is a unique green corridor that runs for almost 4km right through the southern part of the borough. It is well used by the local community, boaters, and commuters and is also a place of ecological diversity.

In 2002 the GLA identified it as a Site of Metropolitan Importance for Nature Conservation. In addition some sections of the canal and basin showcase surviving 19th and early 20th century warehouses and industrial buildings. Regent's Canal Conservation Area is significant to the character of Hackney.
