Hackney Plaques and Local History

Plaques

There are a number of sources of information relating to the history of Hackney, such as Hackney Archives (which also have produced many publications on the history of the Borough).

The Hackney Society also produce a wide range of publications on the historic buildings of the Borough, which are available direct from the Society and through a number of other outlets, such as Hackney Museum and Sutton House.

Local historical figures and events are commemorated around the Borough by brown plaques. There are around 50 plaques in the series, as well as a number of 'blue' plaques which commemorate national events and historical figures.
