Annual Monitoring Report (AMR)
Under Section 35 of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004, the Council must prepare and submit an Annual Monitoring Report (AMR) to the Government by 31 December each year. This is the fifth AMR produced by Hackney. This report covers the period 1 April 2008 to 31 March 2009.
An AMR is required to account for the progress on documents set out in the Local Development Scheme. It should also address whether policies are on target to meet their aims, their impacts on housing supply, other related national and regional targets, sustainability objectives and to review or recommend policy adjustments. We have extended the total number of indicators this year and introduced new systems for monitoring policies which will allow for publication of more comprehensive data.
The 2008/9 AMR was approved at Regulatory Committee on 10 December 2009 and can be found in the 'Downloads' panel to the right, together with copies of all previous reports.
Key messages for 2008/09:
- London Plan housing target exceeded
- All new employment floorspace and housing development was constructed on previously developed land over the monitoring year 2008/09
- In 2008/09, two new primary schools were built contributing to an overall growth in community floorspace
- Achieved household recycling target in 2008/09, making it the first time that Hackney has met the target in consecutive years
- 2 new Green Flag awards in 2009, bringing the borough's total to 9 – the highest ever
Please note that Annual Monitoring Reports are published for information purposes and not for consultation. However, the Monitoring and Research team will always welcome any comments or suggestions for improvement to our work.
