South Shoreditch Supplementary Planning Document
The Council is currently developing a new Local Development Framework, aimed at securing sustainable communities in Hackney. The Supplementary Planning Document for South Shoreditch forms part of this new spatial planning process.
The Council adopted a Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) for South Shoreditch on 1st February 2006. The SPD identifies a 10 year vision for South Shoreditch and provides clear planning guidance for the area. The SPD in conjunction with the London Plan and saved policies of the Hackney Unitary Development Plan 1995 is a material consideration in the determination of planning applications for the area.
A hard copy can be purchased from the Council for £12.50. Please contact Kishor Kapadia on 020 8356 8072 for further details.
Sustainability Appraisal
As required by planning legislation, an assessment of how the SPD will impact on the substantiality of South Shoreditch has been undertaken through the integrated development of a sustainability appraisal. The Sustainability Appraisal consists of sustainability objectives, targets and measurable indicators. Consultation on the sustainability appraisal was undertaken alongside consultation on the SPD (19 September to 1 November 2005).
Public Participation
Statutory consultation on a draft SPD was undertaken between 19 September and 1 November 2005. Feedback received during consultation is much appreciated and was used to inform the final SPD. A summary of submissions report can be obtained from the downloads section on the right. For further information please email ldf@hackney.gov.uk with ‘South Shoreditch SPD’ in the subject line.
