Local Development Documents (LDD)
The term Local Development Documents (LDD) includes two types of documents:
- Development Plan Documents (DPD), and
- Supplementary Planning Documents (SPD).
All of Hackney’s LDDs must be have regard to national policies and the London Plan (produced by the Greater London Authority). They must also have regard to the Hackney Community Strategy and the Statement of Community Involvement (SCI). The program of their development is described by the Local Development Scheme (LDS).
All of these documents will be subject to Sustainability Appraisal and Strategic Environmental Appraisal.
The main difference between the two types of documents relates to the level of consultation required and thus the weight given to each type of plan. Another significant difference is the requirement for an independent examination of DPD with binding recommendations imposed on Hackney Borough Council.
Development Plan Documents (DPD)
There are several documents proposed in the Hackney LDS to be produced as DPD. These include:
Core Strategy
Area Action Plans
Specific Area Policies
Proposals Map
General Policies (none planned at present)
There are a number of stages which a DPD must go through before it is adopted by the Council. Communities of Hackney have an opportunity to become involved in this process in several of these stages. This is further detailed in the Hackney SCI.
Supplementary Planning Documents (SPD)
We will be producing a number of SPD using contempory best practice over the next 3 years . These documents will support the DPDs that will also be produced during this period.
There are a number of stages which an SPD must go through before it is adopted by the Council. Communities of Hackney have an opportunity to become involved in this process in several of these stages. This is further detailed in the Hackney SCI.
