Book a bulky waste collection

What will the council collect?

The bulky waste service is for items that are too large to go in bin bags with your normal refuse. This includes:

  • unusable furniture
  • large appliances like televisions, fridges and washing machines
  • mattresses.

When will my items be picked up?

Bulky waste is collected Monday to Friday apart from on public holidays. You will be given the next available slot for your collection. Depending on demand this is usually within five working days.

Leaving items for collection

Please place your items outside your property by 7am on the day that you are expecting your collection. If you live in a block or estate please leave it in your communal storage area.

What will NOT be collected as bulky waste?

I cannot carry the items I want collected

Disabled people or older people may be eligible for help with lifting their bulky items - this is called an assisted collection.

If you think that you may be eligible for an assisted collection, please call 020 8356 6688, Monday to Friday 8am - 6pm, Saturday 9am - 1pm.

Why was my waste not collected?

The collection crew will only collect those items shown on the job ticket. They will not collect any other items put out for collection.

If the crew is unable to carry out the collection, a ticket will be placed in your letterbox stating the reason why. You may have to contact us to reschedule.

What happens to the items we collect?

Items are sorted and any that are suitable for recycling are separated and placed in recycling containers.  This waste is then sent to North London Waste Authority (NLWA) or other specialist contractors for recycling.  Electrical items are dealt with under the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations.
