Why recycle?
Recycling is quick and easy. It’s about making a simple choice between putting items in your bin or recycling them.You will find your rubbish takes up less space as you recycle more, and you’ll be doing something good for your community as well. Recycling rate
The recycling rate in Hackney in March 2008 was 24%. This means that 24% of all waste collected in Hackney was recycled. You can help to increase the recycling rate by increasing the amount you recycle, and decreasing the amount of waste you produce. Up to 60% of rubbish that ends up in an average household bin can be recycled.
Street level properties
All street level properties have a weekly Green Box (dry recyclables) and Blue Bin (food waste) collection. 16,000 street level properties have access to the Brown Bin service (garden waste).
Estates and high rise properties
