Change of Circumstances
You must tell us straight away, in writing, if there is a change in your or any member of your households' circumstances. Even a small change may effect how much money we can pay you. If you don't tell us straight away, you could lose out on money or we could overpay you. If you are overpaid we will recover the money from you.
These are some of the type of change you must tell us about:
- If you stop receiving Income Support or Job Seekers Allowance
- If you start work
- If someone joins or leaves your household
- If your income changes or the income of anyone else in your household
- If you move address
Please see the links to the right for change of circumstances and change of address forms.
If you fail to report a change in circumstance that increases your benefit entitlement within one month of the change, your benefit may only be increased from the date you inform us.
If you intentionally fail to report a change so that you get more money, we may prosecute you.
