Council Finances

The information on this page relates to Council Finances. From here you can view and download previous years’ budgets as well as the Council approved budget for the current financial year.

Each year the Council produces a Statement of Accounts. The Statement of Accounts provides information about costs and income of the Council’s services for the financial year and liabilities and assets at the year end.  The audited Statement of Accounts for recent years can be viewed and downloaded by clicking on the relevant link on the right of this page.

Any person interested in the Statement of Accounts has the opportunity to inspect the same over a period of 20 working days, set each year in accordance with the Accounts and Audit Regulations 2003.  Notice of the public inspection period is given in the local press each year and is also accessible online from this page.

Following the annual audit of the accounts a Closure of Audit Notice is published.

An annual audit letter is issued each year by the Audit Commission, the Council’s independent external auditors. The annual audit letter covers the work carried out by auditors since the previous annual audit letter was issued.  It communicates to the Council and key external stakeholders, including members of the public, the key issues arising from auditors’ work, which auditors consider should be brought to the attention of Members.  Annual Audit Letters can be viewed and downloaded from this page.
