Freedom Pass renewal 2010

Please note: All Freedom Pass users will need to renew their cards by 31 March 2010.

New passes feature a passport sized photograph on the card itself rather than on a separate photocard and will take up to 10 working days to arrive.

To renew your pass you will need to take a passport sized photograph and proof of your current address to your local Post Office. Your new pass will then be posted to you.

  • New Freedom Pass cards will be issued between January and February 2010, you should carry on using your current Freedom Pass until then.
  • All current Freedom Passes will cease to work on 31 March 2010.
  • The new pass will be valid for five years instead of two.
  • For additional security and help prevent fraud, you will need to supply a recent, passport sized photograph that will appear on the card itself rather than on a separate photocard.
  • Your new card cannot be issued over the counter. It will take up to 10 working days to arrive and will be sent to you in the post.
  • If you are disabled, your council will contact you.
  • Older Person's Freedom pass: You can download the application form from www.freedompass.org which you then take to your local Post Office branch, or you can pick up a printed copy from your local Post Office.
  • You need to take two forms of identification to the Post Office along with your completed application form: one to prove your age (eg. a driving licence or passport) and one to prove your current address (eg. a recent utility bill or council tax statement). If you are a disabled Freedom Pass holder, you need proof of your current address and your letter of authorisation from the council.
