Re-use your furniture
The Council and community furniture project Homestore are working together to find homes for Hackney residents' unwanted furniture. To arrange a collection you can call Homestore directly on 020 8519 6264, but please read the below information first.
How the furniture re-use project works
- Hackney residents who have unwanted furniture in good condition can have it collected for free from their homes.
- These items are then provided to low-income households, to help people on living on low-incomes avoid getting into debt.
Eligible items
Only certain items are eligble for the scheme:
- assembled wardrobes
- lounge display and wall units
- dining tables with sets of four or six chairs
- chests of drawers, settees, arm chairs, and single and double beds - so long as they are clean, dry and fire safety compliant
- coffee tables, shelving, bedside cabinets, home desks and chairs are also welcome.
The following items are not accepted for re-use:
bedding - "white goods" (washing machines, fridges etc.)
- electrical appliances
- office furniture
- carpets
- kitchen units and utensils
- bric-a-brac.

Reuse other items
London Re-use Network
The London Re-use Network provides an integrated network of re-use and repair facilities which work together to deliver public and commercial re-use services.
You can give items a new lease of life after you've finished with them. It's easy; simply call your nearest re-use centre to arrange a collection (there may be a small collection charge) or if it's easier, drop the items off yourself.
The items you donate are assessed, refurbished if necessary and checked for safety. They are priced and sold from re-use centres at affordable prices. The money generated helps pay for the service provided.
