Refuse collection schedules
We provide a refuse collection to all Hackney residents at least once a week. Below you'll find information about collection days.

Other collection schedules

- You will need to call Wasteline to arrange an assisted refuse collection, bulky waste collection or clinical waste collection (the number is at the top-right corner of this page).
- To find out when and where you can put your waste in a Hackney Council public skip, please see our skips for household use page.
You may also wish to read about household waste disposal sites near you and a furniture re-use project which helps low-income families avoid debt.
How to put your rubbish out, and what to expect from us
- We will collect your rubbish from the front of your property, or from collection points - if you are unsure of where your collection point is, you can call Wasteline - the contact details are at the top-right of this page.
- Please make sure you put your rubbish out in a sealed refuse sack or plastic bag and put it in your dustbin, wheelie bin, communal bins or storage areas.
- You should only put your rubbish out on the street if you do not have a collection point. If you have to put your rubbish out on the street, please place it there the night before collection (and no earlier).
- Only put rubbish out on the footpath the night before collectiont on collection day. They will not lift or carry bins or bags over stairwells or other obstacles.
- We try to complete all collections and will notify you in advance of any changes to your collection day.
- If we miss your collection for any reason, please call Wasteline - the number is at the top right corner of this page.
- We make sure no rubbish remains in bins after emptying, and will leave streets clear and clean after collection.
- If you need to report a missed collection or a spillage, please see our missed collections page.
Waste containers / bins
Please note that with the exception of a small number of properties, we are generally unable to provide containers and bins for household waste.
