Skip Licences
A licence is required to place a builder’s skip on the public highway under Section 139 of the Highways Act 1980. The Licensing Service is responsible for the issuing of skip licences. They are issued for a maximum of six weeks (depending on location or suspension of parking bays etc).
A licence is only required if the skip is to be placed on a public highway.
Skip Licences have an administration charge of £30. We accept the following methods of payment:
- Cheque/Postal Order

How do I apply for a skip licence?

Important information
If the skip needs to be placed in a pay & display, shared use, business, residents or any other designated parking bay, permission will need to be sought from the Parking Service. They can be contacted on: 020 8356 8877.
The Council cannot issue skip licences on any part of the Priority “Red” Route network, you will need to seek approval from Transport for London (TfL). They can be contacted on: 020 7941 2010.
Also, the Licensing Service cannot issue licences for skips that are to be placed on Housing Estates. Permission is required from the relevant Neighbourhood Office.
