
Local Development Framework
The government has introduced a new planning system, the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004, to manage how development takes place in towns and the countryside. As part of the reform, Unitary Development Plans (UDP) will be replaced by Local Development Frameworks prepared by local authorities such as Hackney.
The Local Development Framework, together with the Regional Spatial Strategy, provides the essential framework for planning in the local authority's area. In London the regional spatial strategy is the London Plan prepared by the Mayor of London. The key documents, which form part of the LDF are listed below.
