Community Alarm Services (TeleCare)
What is it?
Telecare uses technology to help frail or vulnerable people remain living in their homes rather than having to move into residential care. It uses a range of sensors around the home to detect unusual incidents and send emergency calls to a 24-hour monitoring centre. The centre will investigate the incident and send out help where appropriate.
Who is it for?
Although not suitable for all disabled people, it can help support some people who are physically frail or those who have cognitive impairment such as dementia or learning disabilities. TeleCare is available to people who live in Hackney who are assessed by Hackney’s Assessment and Care Management Teams as being eligible and in need of the service.
