Geographical Information
At Hackney Council, the GIS team is responsible for giving the Council and the community access to maps and geographic information about the Borough.
One of the ways we do this is by using new web technologies to not only give the public direct access to the mapping and geographic data held by the Council, but to also deliver an interactive and easy to use web mapping resource.
The main areas covered by the GIS team are:
Hackney Where?
Hackney Where? provides information about Hackney from a map. You can search by address, postcode, street name or building name. You can also add and remove items to quickly find on the map e.g parks and railway stations.
Interactive Mapping
Map.Hackney provides information on a wide range of datasets by creating your own maps using the mapping application.
Map Gallery
A repository of downloadable pdf and image format maps that can be printed from your desktop.
LLPG
The Local Land and Property Gazetteer. A major Council project to provide a definitive and unambiguous identification of all land and property within the borough and unify all Council systems holding address information.
Citizen Index
Citizen Index database connects to various data sources within the council and match information and identifiers to establish a central repository. This repository will contain a single record for a citizen with all their associated identifiers from the various systems, including access to further information depending on the authorisation level. Accessing the information from those systems will be via BizTalk.
Freight Mapping
Freight mapping is an interactive online mapping service providing freight information to freight providers/haulers and other delivery companies that drive through or make deliveries within Hackney about maximising route efficiency without causing nuisance to Hackney residents and the general public. It is a joint project between Hackney Council, TFL and PIE Enterprises.
