Governance Services

The Governance Services Team [formerly part of Services for Councillors] support the Council’s Executive and non Executive governance structures to ensure effective and lawful decision making having regard to the Council’s Constitution and the various legislative requirements. It supports and services the meetings of the Council, the Cabinet, the Regulatory and Licensing Committees and their Sub Committees and the Neighbourhood Committees. It also supports the Council’s Standard’s Committee and provides support to the Director in her role as Monitoring Officer in promoting strong ethical governance arrangements having regard to the Members Code of Conduct.

Support is also provided to the Speaker as Chair of the Council and in undertaking civic and ceremonial duties, in managing and delivering the Member Induction, Training and Development Programme.
