Legal, Human Resources and Regulatory Services
Legal, HR and Regulatory Services enable and support the Council to provide effective and value-for-money services, and demonstrate to residents that they have power to influence how we deliver the services.
The directorate comprises the following areas:
Human Resources and Organisational Development
Human Resources and Organisational Development's function is to enable the organisation to attract, retain and manage a workforce that has the right skills and potential to realise Hackney's vision and deliver its strategic and service objectives.
Legal and Democratic Services
Legal and Democratic Services is made up of four service areas:
- Legal Services
- Electoral Services
- Governance Services
- Registration Services
Regulatory Services
The purpose of the Regulatory Services division is to:
- Deliver a safer, cleaner, greener Hackney with thriving neighbourhoods
- Contribute to making Hackney a better place for residents, investors and visitors
Aims and ambitions
To improve the quality of life of Hackney residents by providing:
- professional, high quality legal and democratic services to the Mayor, Members and officers which meet their needs, facilitate their objectives, protect the Council's interests, keep it within the law and enhance openness, accountability and transparency;
- high quality, comprehensive support to the Mayor, the Speaker and all elected Members to assist them in fulfilling their roles as community leaders;
- a high quality electoral registration service and efficiently run elections.
