Introductory Library Membership

Hackney Libraries have now introduced a new introductory membership. If you find it difficult to provide a proof of address (for example, if you do not get any utility bills in your name), or if you’re just passing and don’t have any ID on you, it’s still possible to join Hackney Libraries.

Just ask for introductory membership and you will be able to join on the spot, and borrow up to two items straight away.

We’ll send you a letter confirming your membership, and if you bring it into one of our libraries within three weeks, we’ll upgrade you to a full member, and you’ll be able to borrow up to twelve items at once. Alternatively, you can bring in a recognised proof of address at any time and we’ll upgrade you to full membership.
