Public WiFi in Hackney libraries
Wireless internet is available in all Hackney libraries, except Woodberry Down, so your wireless enabled device can now get free internet.
- access is free to library members
- you must be a library member
- use your library card number and library password to login
- printing is not available via wifi
- you can use the service for as long as you like within library opening hours.
Using public WiFi
- use a 802.11 wireless enabled device
once connected to the WiFi hotspot, called LBH-Libraries, start your browser to see the login page (see image).
- enter your library card number and PIN into the boxes
- when logged-in, a redirect page opens and then your home page.
Sometimes you may have to reopen your browser. For legal reasons staff cannot provide technical assistance to patrons using WiFi and they cannot configure your laptop, wireless adapter or mobile device. WiFi is limited to opening hours of the library, sessions may timeout and when finished please logout.
Common problems using WiFi
- if login fails check that the wireless signal is not too weak, if it is try moving to another part of the building
- try restarting your laptop and your browser if you still cannot connect
- if your home page doesn't show after you have logged in, try restarting your browser. You won't need to logout- you will still be connected
- if you are a library member but don't have a library password please ask your library staff to set one up for you
- there may be a problem with your library account, therefore please try logging onto a library PC first
You may need to adjust your browser settings to be assigned automatically and for this and other more detailed assistance please see How to use Hackney Libraries WiFi (Word, 64KB)
