Library fees and fines

Overdue reminders 

You will be sent a reminder when an item becomes overdue. If you do not return it, you will be sent one more reminder. Reminders are sent out to the last registered address, it is the responsibility of the borrower to ensure that we have your up-to-date address details.

Overdue fees

  • books, language courses, spoken word and selected free CDs and DVDs: 20p per day per item
  • no charge for under 18s, senior citizens and people with disabilities

Reservation charges

  • items in stock in a London Library Consortium library: free
  • items not stocked by the London Libraries Consortium: £2 per item
  • items from the British Library: £10 per item

No charge for under 18s, senior citizens and people with disabilities.

Replacement membership card

  • adults: £1
  • under 18's, senior citizens and people with disabilities: 50p

Lost or damaged stock

Charged at replacement cost.

DVDs and CDs

  • DVDs that we have had in stock for over one year: free
  • DVDs that we have had in stock for less than a year: £2 per DVD
  • CD's that we have had in stock for over one year: free
  • music CDs that we have had in stock for less than one year: £1 per CD
  • language courses: free
  • no charge for under 18s, senior citizens and people with disabilities

Computers

Computer use is free for all Hackney library members.

  • A4 black and white: 10p
  • A4 colour: 50p

Photocopies

  • A4 black and white: 10p
  • A4 colour: 50p
  • A3 black and white: 20p
  • A3 colour: £1
