London Fields
London Fields is one of Hackney's most popular green spaces. The park borders Richmond Road, Lansdowne Drive, Westgate Street and London Fields West Side. The space is classified as common land due to its historical roots as a site for grazing animals and as a route for moving animals to market at Smithfield. The space is characterised by its grassy expanse and is demarcated by mature London plane trees.
The park was awarded a Green Flag award in 2011. The Green Flag Award Scheme recognises and rewards the best green spaces in the country. Hackney currently has thirteen Green Flags - one of the highest totals in London.

Love London Fields
This summer, the Council is encouraging you to Love London Fields by recycling your bottles and cans in the bins at the entrances to the park, taking non-recyclable rubbish with you when you leave and picking up your cigarette butts and bottle tops. Please respect local residents by keeping noise to a minimum after dark. All of this will help keep London Fields lovely for everyone who uses it.
Trading in London Fields
We get many enquiries from people wishing to trade in London Fields - often wanting to sell ice cream, coffee or other refreshments. Due to the high demand from traders, we are unable to grant licenses to everybody. We are considering tendering the opportunity for one trader to operate in the park, in which case the opportunity will be advertised on this website. We are unfortunately unable to contact individual traders to inform them when this opportunity may be available.
London Fields User Group (LFUG)
The LFUG is a group of local residents and park users. The group works with the Council to maintain and improve the quality of the park and its facilties including sports provision, nature conservation and biodiversity.
