Marriage Renewal

This ceremony is for any married couple or couple who have gone through a civil partnership to celebrate reaffirming their vows. The ceremony has no legal basis, and can be tailored to the couple's own needs and wishes to ensure it is unique and personal.

Reaffirming your marriages vows in a formal ceremony can also be a perfect opportunity for couples who have been married abroad to share their celebration with family and friends in the UK when they return.

The ceremony

The registrars at Hackney will discuss your requirements with in detail and help you devise a ceremony which is tailored to your needs and wishes. You may choose any music or reading you wish, as long as it is not of a religious nature.

During the ceremony a souvenir record of the ceremony is signed by the couple, witnesses and the registrar conducting the ceremony.

Where can the ceremonies be held?

You can hold your ceremony almost anywhere you wish, including your own home. We have a wide range of approved premises including former churches, 16th century houses, theatres and the Town Hall.

If you wish you can hold your ceremony at home, but there are certain conditions that apply, including a pre ceremony consultation visit to your home.

Fees

Fees for a reaffirmation of marriage vows ceremony start at just £43.50 and depend on the venue chosen and the day of the week.
