Nursery and reception
Handling sessions
All handling sessions have been developed in collaboration with local teachers to ensure that they meet National Curriculum and QCA requirements. Each relates to the Museum’s displays and supports the History, Geography, Art, Science, English and PSHE and Citizenship curriculum requirements.
Sessions last between 20 and 30 minutes, depending on the age and ability of the children, and can be booked as part of a visit to Hackney Museum. These sessions are available for nursery and reception groups:
Old teddies
Nursery & Key Stage 1 History: The way we were; Science: Materials
Using a variety of old toys the children will establish a teddy bear time line. Through a selection of fun games they will investigate the materials that toys are made from and discover how they have changed over time.
