New Pathways Film Fund

The closing date has now passed and applications are being assessed for the New Pathways Film Fund. There are 15 places available on the training scheme and 6 Bursaries of £1,500.

The New Pathways Film Fund is a partnership between the London Boroughs of Tower Hamlets, Hackney and Newham and is part of the London Borough Film Fund Challenge.

New Pathways is a director led training programme for 15 new entrants to film designed to take participants to the first stage of filmmaking, looking at new techniques and technologies and exploring alternative routes of exhibition and distribution.

The scheme is looking for original and exciting stories told with a fresh individual voice and where possible utilise locations from the three partner Boroughs.

The training programme will run concurrently with a script development programme where participants will be able to work with a script developer and will be guided through the development process.

Participants to the scheme will be invited to pitch their script developed through the training scheme to a panel of judges who will award 6 film bursaries of £1,500 each. A total of two bursaries will be awarded from each Borough.

Aims of New Pathways Film Fund

• New Pathways aims to provide 15 new entrants to the film industry from the three partner boroughs, with an intensive training and film development programme
• To support filmmakers to write, shoot and edit 6 new short films
• To gain an understanding of new technologies and be able to utilise them
• To promote and develop filmmaking in the London Boroughs of Tower Hamlets, Hackney and Newham by offering financial support, professional development and advice from industry professionals direct to new talent
• To exhibit work produced as part of the East End Film Festival
• To explore new ways of exhibition and distribution
• To sign post filmmakers to other sources of funding and professional development
