Mayor Jules Pipe joined David Higgins and a host of other senior Olympic figures to mark the beginning of construction of the International Broadcast Centre and Main Press Centre in Hackney.
The two centres, that will host over 20,000 journalists from around the world during Games time, are central to the Mayor’s ambitions for a lasting economic legacy for residents of Hackney. More information

The Mayor was joined by entrepreneurs from throughout Hackney at the fourth annual Mayor’s Business Awards.
Judged by a prestigious panel of business people with connections to Hackney the annual awards are dedicated to recognising and celebrating the excellence and diversity of businesses in the borough. More information

June 2009
Mayor Jules Pipe joined Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government John Denham at London Fields Lido to highlight the publication of the most recent Place Survey. The national survey measures Councils’ performance and resident satisfaction over many areas.
Mayor Jules Pipe said: “Surveys like this are important because they help us deliver the services residents tell us they want and need.”
In Hackney, the survey showed that 72 per cent of residents are satisfied with their local area as a place to live, up from 60 per cent two years ago. More information
