Mayor Pipe supports Hackney Paralympic hopeful

Mayor Jules Pipe has given his support to Hackney's Paralympic swimmer Dervis Konuralp, saying: "I wish Dervis the best of luck at the Paralympics in Beijing. He is also a great role model for our young residents, telling his story to inspire them to get involved in sport and physical activity". More info

Mayor welcomes Fairtrade Award

Mayor Jules Pipe has congratulated Hackney's Fairtrade Steering Group on the award of Fairtrade status for Hackney , fulfilling one of the Mayor's manifesto commitments from his re-election in 2006. Mayor Pipe said "I am delighted that Hackney's shoppers now have a wide range of fair-trade produce to purchase, ensuring that producers in developing countries get a fair deal. I congratulate Cllr Ian Rathbone and the Fairtrade Steering Group on all of their work."
