Council Tax frozen for third year running

Hackney Council have agreed to the Mayor's proposals to freeze Council at 2005 levels for the third successive year, as well as delivering extra investment into keeping Hackney clean and more services for young people. More information

Mayor joins in tree planting

Mayor Jules Pipe and Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods Cllr Alan Laing helped with the digging as part of Hackney's commitment to plant 1,000 street trees across the borough.

Mayor Pipe said: "I'm delighted that one of our most popular promises is now beginning to be met. There is huge public demand for more trees on our streets, and by meeting our promise we hope that every street that wants trees, where practicable, will be able to have them.

"The London Assembly praised us last year as being one of the few boroughs to be planting new trees and increasing their number."
