How do I search for a job?
Go to the drop down box in the top right corner of the screen, you are given the option of "Job Search" - which will take you to the Search page. There are two other options available, "Login" - which will take you to your account details and "Job Alerts" - which will allow you to register for email notification of jobs as they are advertised (you can customise this to meet your specific search criteria).
I'm on the Search page, now how do I find the job I'm looking for?
If you have a specific role in mind then you can narrow down your search by selecting a range of criteria in the drop down boxes. However if you are interested in all the roles we have you will need to keep your search broad. Leave all the boxes blank and click the "Search and Apply" button at the base of the page for a list of all the vacancies we are currently advertising. in the Children and Young People's Directorate.
Once I've found the role I'm interested in where can I find more information?
The Job Description and Personal Specification along with other relevant documents can be found at the base of each Job Advertisement. Click on the link "Job description and more info", then download and unpack the zip folder.
Once I begin my application, am I able to leave and return to it at a later time?
Yes, you can complete your application in stages (just remember to save as you go) as long as you complete each section in order. Once you've finished each section, you must submit the completed version prior to the closing date to ensure your application is considered.
Do I need to complete a new application for every post?
No, once the core details of your application (Personal Details, Work Experience, Qualifications etc) have been completed, the personal statement is the only section you need to complete again, as this section will be specific to each role. If you have any changes to make to any of your core details (address or qualifications) you are able to amend these details at any time just by logging on.
How/when will I be notified of the result of the shortlisting process?
You will be contacted via your prefered mail type. which you will be asked to confirm in the initial stages of the application process. You will be contacted by email or letter (depending on how you responded) and informed of the panel's decision, within 7 working days of the closing date, though this may vary slightly on occasion due to unforseen circumstances.
Why when I log on to the system do I have a random page on my screen?
The system will automatically take you to the page you were viewing when you were last on the system.
Where can I find jobs with other directorates in Hackney?
Vacancies outside of the Children and Young People's Directorate can be found at www.hackney.gov.uk/jobs.
