Our Museum
Hackney Museum has been awarded a grant of £150,000 over three years to support our community engagement work. The grant is part of the Paul Hamlyn Foundation's 'Our Museum: Communities and Museums as Active Partners' programme. We welcome the funding, the support, and the recognition for the quality of work at Hackney Museum.
The Paul Hamlyn Foundation initiative is the end result of a research process, published in 'Whose cake is it anyway?'. The Paul Hamlyn Foundation report highlighted the need for museums to put their communities at the heart of their work
At Hackney Museum, community engagement is already central to our role, but we can always improve our skills and practices, and work with local people to develop more of what we hope will be interesting, useful and inspiring new opportunities.
