Training Camps for 2012

World Class Training Facilities at the heart of the 2012 Games

Hackney's proximity to where London’s Games will be staged is a real advantage for teams coming to London to train for the 2012 Games. We are able to offer athletes use of our facilities in partnership with the other Olympic and Paralympic host boroughs. Between the five boroughs there are ample facilities for athletes to prepare for the Games.

Hackney is a culturally diverse area and is ideally placed to offer a home from home to people from all over the world; with more than 100 languages spoken in the borough and an eclectic mix of cultures, Hackney is in a strong position to build excellent relationships with the Olympic and Paralympic family – competitors, supporters and visitors.

Hackney also has a range of world-class venues included in the official Guide for Pre-Games Training Camps, offering Olympic and Paralympic athletes training opportunities for sports including: Paralympic Volleyball (sitting), Wheelchair Basketball, Wheelchair Fencing, Wheelchair Rugby; Basketball, Boxing, Badminton, Fencing, Archery, Judo, Taekwondo and Table Tennis.

For more information on each Hackney venue visit the official 2012 Pre Games Training Camp website: http://trainingcamps.london2012.com.

Local access to venues

Hackney Council will ensure that with careful programming residents will not miss out on sport or physical activity because their local leisure facility is providing a training venue for 2012.  There will be planned access to alternative venues as well as schools and clubs being able to watch some of the training sessions so they can see Olympians and Paralympians in action.
